Savannah Information

Savannah's Historic District

Savannah is proud to be home to one of the largest National Landmark Historic Districts in the United States. This 2.5-mile district, which runs from River Street to Forsyth Park, features plenty of quaint shops, charming boutiques and world-class restaurants nestled beneath a canopy of Live Oak trees. Georgia’s First City also features stunning examples of Federal, Italianate, Georgian and Victorian architecture.

The Historic District’s 22 squares, which formed a vital part of General James Edward Oglethorpe’s original city plan when he founded Savannah in 1733, serve as the heart and soul of downtown Savannah and have been widely praised for their beauty. Southern hospitality still reigns supreme in Savannah, a city with three centuries of history. Take the time to stroll down cobblestone streets and enjoy all that the Historic District has to offer. Discover Savannah!

Conclave
Events

The atmosphere you experience in the city of Savannah will inspire you throughout the weekend.
Lodging at the Marriott Riverfront offers spacious rooms and will be at the hub of activity for Saturday evening.  Located in the heart of Downtown Savannah, southern hospitality will surround you with shopping, eateries, and beautiful historic architecture.
Students first register at the Marriott Riverfront Hotel.  Here they will meet their host families for the weekend.

What is a Conclave?

The Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) allows students and Rotarians the opportunity to meet and learn about one another as they begin an exciting year.  Roughly 70 students from 30 countries will attend Conclave 2010 on the weekend of August 22-29.
The Conclave represents a great opportunity to extend friendship to our GRSP students and enjoy a weekend of fellowship with other Rotarians.  A mandatory meeting for all GRSP students for the 2010-2011 school year, Conclave allows students to meet fellow members of their class, be indoctrinated to GRSP, life in the United States, and understand what is expected of them during their stay.
